Congratulations BHS Class of 2026!

On a picture-perfect evening, Brewster High School celebrated its 135th graduating class surrounded by family, friends, faculty, and staff in a packed stadium. Overhead, clouds stretched across the sky like a painting, while the Brewster Fire Department flew a giant American flag from a ladder truck in front of the scoreboard, which displayed the numbers: 2026!

The ceremony began as graduates and faculty processed onto the field to the familiar sound of Pomp and Circumstance, performed by the BHS Band. The NJROTC Color Guard presented the colors, and retiring teacher Sarah Barnes led the Pledge of Allegiance. The Chamber Singers delivered a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem, setting the tone for an evening.

Principal Nichole Horler recognized the Class of 2026's top ten students before graduates heard heartfelt remarks from Salutatorian Giana Kusterer, Valedictorian William Blanck, and student speaker Luisa Martinez Lemus, whose authentic and meaningful speeches reflected on friendship, family, perseverance, growth, and the memories that shaped their Brewster experience.

Superintendent Dr. Michelle Gosh spoke about the significance of the nation's upcoming 250th anniversary and encouraged graduates to become engaged and active citizens. Principal Horler and Board of Education President Kerry Cunningham each used different metaphors—a butterfly and a bee—but shared a common message: embrace who you are, stand up for what matters, and continue growing as you begin the next chapter of your journey.

The evening culminated with the presentation of diplomas as the Class of 2026 was officially certified to graduate. Then came the moment everyone had been waiting for: tassels were moved, caps were tossed into the air, beach balls bounced through the crowd, and the stadium erupted with cheers, hugs, tears, and celebration.
